After months of outreach, gleaning through 432 applications and an inspiring Awards Ceremony, we are happy to announce the 2012 Innovation for India Award Winners! On Friday March 30th, India’s Innovation Community came together to honor India’s top innovations – 8 organizations were chosen based on their uniqueness, sustainability and impact.
Redbus, Indigo Airlines, UFO Movies, Akshaya Patra, Fractal Foundation, St. Judes, Teach for India, EMRI and the UIDAI project are the winners in 2012. Read more about these organizations and what they have achieved.

Background on the India Innovation Awards
Marico Innovation Foundation is excited to announce the 4th edition of the Innovation for India Awards. The application process was open between July 2011 and 16th September 2011.
The Biennial Innovation for India Awards are a national platform to recognize breakthrough innovations implemented in the fields of Business and Social Impact. In 2010 a new category was added under Innovations in Public Service. This was introduced to recognize innovations where the Central or State government or any wing of the Government including public-private partnership have innovated in bringing breakthroughs into the public service areas.
The intent of the Awards is to reward projects and businesses that make a real difference to India and the community at large. The assessment of the awards are based on the criteria of demonstrated Uniqueness, Impact & Scalability. More details on the eligibility criteria.
Since 2006, 32 innovators have been recognized including Kirloskar Brothers for their work on the Sardar Sarovar Dam, BOSCH MICO for product development, Su-Kam Inverters for their innovation on the Supply Chain and Distribution, Titan industries for the world’s slimmest watch, Trichy Police, ITC’s e-Choupal Initiative, Tutor Vista, Goonj, PRS Legislative, Gujarat Government’s Jyoti gram Yojana and Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR).
Bharti Airtel & Tata Nano were recognized as Global Game Changers for their spirit of Innovation that has powered global recognition for India in the field of Innovation.
